Just position yourself so you're near the edge of the enemy's engagement range (by left clicking them you can see the red outline of where they can move) so you don't get attacked.
This allows you to go wherever the ♥♥♥♥ you want. Lightning strike means you can face down 10 stacks one at a time, and because you have the best infantry, best artillery, and best cavalry you will always win a 1 on 1 stack engagement. I know the blue tree is the stupid boring one and everyone wants that yellow tree, but trust me. You can very slowly win the campaign with "guerilla" tactics, but it's far from the most efficient or fun. I've seen the Empire fall before I even got to fight them because Skaeling killed them first. Because they have all the resources of the united Norscan tribes, they're much more useful and will go absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the rest of the map. Shoot for a military alliance with them as soon as possible. Instead, just go ham on whatever faction is nearest that they're at war with to build diplomatic relations. Don't try to subjugate the winner, usually Wulfrik. I would recommend instead killing all the norscan tribes except whichever one is winning the most. They're literally starting with nothing and it takes them forever to rebuild. The awakened tribes aren't particularly useful because you have to destroy them to awaken them. Also invest in the increased growth in the blue tree. You have to be bold and constantly fight, usually take the growth from cities unless you need the money. I don't know how you're facing down halberdiers by the time you get Chosen, I usually have Chosen by turn 20-25. Shortly after that you get access to Chosen, which are the single best infantry in the game.
Once you have Chaos Warriors the game is cake because you're pumping out armored units before anyone has access to armor piercing. The strategy to rush chosen is basically recruiting maraduers until you have a 20 stack, then destroy the marauder chain so you can build the chosen chain much, much earlier. But upgrading a chain doesn't cost extra, it's a flat 1 or 2 growth. I just wish there were options for balanced army comps earlier in the game.įor newer players who don't understand hordes, basically every new "chain" you build costs 2 more growth. That said, I did some goofy challenge streams where I only made the marauder tree and I was still very successful on legendary.
It means you spend the first 100 turns with nothing but infantry because rushing Chosen is the best strategy. It incentivizes you to quickly max one type of unit instead of having a balanced army. The only mechanic that is outright poorly designed is the horde growth and building progression. The Chaos Warriors pack, which includes three playable lords (each with their own 'narrative-driven quest chain'), makes for an enticing pre-order incentive, although some players will no doubt remain cautious following the troubled launch of Rome 2 back in late 2013.Based on more legendary campaigns than I like to admit: That DLC, containing three playable factions, is now available for purchase on Steam for £5.99. Total War: Rome 2, for example, included the Greek States as its pre-order bonus, helping ensure it became the most pre-ordered title in the series' 15-year history. Sega's used playable Total War factions to encourage pre-orders before. There's no word on whether this first DLC will be available to buy as well, but the wording of Sega's press release suggests it will be (the Chaos Warriors Race Pack will be available at launch).
Chaos total war warhammer 2 free#
Players who want to control their own Chaos armies during a Grand Campaign need to own the 'Chaos Warriors Race Pack', which is free to those who pre-order. Now, they're confirmed as a playable race. We've expected the forces of Chaos to play a role in Total War: Warhammer ever since the strategy game was announced.
